Kam Thermal was founded in 1906 and has been serving customers ever since.
A brief overview of our history
Brooklyn, NY • 1906
Established in 1906 by Abraham Kamenetsky.
Ownership transferred in the 1940s to Jack Layton, Abraham's son-in-law.
Jack's three sons all became involved in the business in the early 1960s.
Beginning it's first 60 years offering commercial applications for heating apartment buildings and homes, Kam Thermal moved to service industrial markets with shell and tube heat exchangers.
Ozone Park, NY • 1975
Moved operations to Ozone Park, NY.
Alan Layton and his two brothers, Peter and Eric, continued business under their father Jack.
In the late 1980s, Alan and Eric moved the company to Hauppauge, located on Long Island; at this time, Peter retired.
Hauppauge, NY • 1991
Between 1991-2021, we have kept our operations in various locations near Hauppauge, NY.
In 1994 Brian Kimmelman joined the company.
Bohemia, NY • 2022
Following Eric’s passing in 2013, Alan and his son-in-law Brian became equal partners of Kam Thermal Equipment, LTD.
Kam Thermal continues to serve both industrial and commercial companies with high quality custom and standard shell and tube heat exchangers.
